Descripció

This 15 hour online course is part of a 30 hour online course organised in two parts. It will reinforce and analyse the key competences for language learning introduced in Part A, focusing on use of authentic materials and use of culture in the classroom. It will encourage student autonomy and taking responsibility for their own learning.

Objectius

  • Revise the eight key competences to lifelong learning
  • Further develop EFL related key competences
  • Further develop teaching practice materials, strategies and techniques
  • Evaluate and design course materials
  • Reflect on progress and plan the next professional development stage

Metodologia

This online course is organised in two 15 hour online courses (Part A and Part B). There are 5 modules and a journal assignment. It includes individual and group work in a variety of tasks on the Moodle platform.

Avaluació

Participants will need to complete all required work on the platform. They may be asked to redo a task and upload a revised version.

Participants will need to complete a feedback questionnaire.

  • Reflection and suggesting new strategies to include in own teaching practice
  • Further focus on classroom tasks and teaching strategies to aid input understanding, retention and organisation
  • Further focus on skills development and integrated skills
  • Further focus on attitudes in the EFL classroom and how they affect language learning
  • Professional development resolutions and agenda

 

Module 1: Revising Key Competences for Lifelong Learning

This module will include input materials and practical activities to reinforce the concept of key competences and how they help organise language teaching and language learning. It will invite reflection, perceptions and practical solutions to be applied in the foreign language classroom.

Module 2: Focus on EFL Related Key Competences

This module will analyse the three competences identified as Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes as applied in the current classroom. It will focus on their interaction and how they affect language learning in general. It will also focus on their importance when considered learning long term

Module 3: Teaching Practice 1 – Focus on Knowledge

This module will continue with more classroom ideas and lesson development activities started in Part A of this course. It will invite a more in-depth approach to maximise use of resources and language acquisition in terms of form and function.

Module 4: Teaching Practice 2 – Focus on Skills

This module will continue with more classroom ideas and lesson development activities started in Part A of this course. It will invite a more in-depth approach to maximise use of resources and language acquisition in terms of skills development, integration and application.

Module 5: Teaching Practice 3 – Focus on Attitudes

This module will continue with more classroom ideas and lesson development activities started in Part A of this course. It will invite a more in-depth approach to maximise use of resources and language acquisition in terms of favourable attitudes among language learners.
